Dog walking next to the handler.

Shot of dog training with the dog walking happily alongside the handler, showing remarkable attention and interest.

The dog learns to walk alongside its handler as part of basic training, a process where the dog learns useful everyday commands, but more importantly learns how to communicate with the human.

We have seen a large young owner really suffer from the incomprehensible behavior of an untrained Chihuahua (a very small companion dog), otherwise very cute.

We have seen an owner of an untrained half-breed German shepherd never take his dog outside for a walk, but constantly keep him tied using a long chain in the yard of the house as he displayed intense aggression for no reason even towards the owner himself as well as his family. The dog was so hostile in fact that they couldn't get close and the owner used a long broom to push the dog's food bowl towards him every day.

We saw a petite elderly lady with mobility issues, fortunately not particularly severe, owner of an untrained Caucasian shepherd suffer every time on a walk of enormous proportions in relation to her dog, as instead of walking calmly by her side he pulled her too hard.

Of course, applying the appropriate intervention of an experienced trainer, the above problems are addressed at least to a certain extent, but you certainly don't have to wait for the inevitable.
Consider for a moment what is expected to be the development of people who for their own reasons arrive at the door of school not as children but late as teenagers or adults. Dogs are not that different from humans.

We suggest that you take care of your dog's early training, at least to the extent of basic, as a lack of training could lead any owner before they know it to trouble that may range starting at comic to tragic situations, such as having to isolate the dog during a visit of friends or the need of dog muzzles even for very small breeds during their daily walk, or even to serious conditions may involving unprovoked attacks or accidents.
